UWI meets Futer Water in Essen
On 27th and 28th of April an UWI delegation, consisting of 5 doctoral students one speaker and teh coordinator visted the NRW Fortschrittskolleg Future Water in Essen. The meeting was a first step towards closer collaborations between the two research training groups working on similar reasearch topics.
UWI Student Research Council
In March, the doctoral students came together for two days to hold their first self-organised Student Research Council.
Set in a seminar house outside of Berlin, this created a relaxed and productive working environment.
At first, an organised workshop with professional and structured input on collaborative working using examples of actual work within the common topic groups provided both, basics of collaborative working and reflection on current collaboration between and within the groups.
Applying insights and momentum from the workshop, the doctoral students then used the remaining time to work within the common topic groups, brainstorm new ideas, reflect on methods and help each other with different software, models and other skills.
All in all, the mixture of a good working environment, professional input, and time to work together created excellent conditions and lead to a stronger team cohesion, interesting exchanges, new ideas, and improved collaborative efforts.
Guest lecture by Prof. Sascha Oswald
The DFG Research Training Group on Urban Water Interfaces (UWI) invites to a guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Sascha Oswald (Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Potsdam) with the titel 'Groundwater interfaces in an urban area - transfer of surface water to drinking water and the potential of novel soil moisture sensing for assessing groundwater recharge'. The lecture will take place Wednesday, 22nd March 2017, 12:15 pm at TU Berlin, Geoinformation in Environmental Planning Lab, Room EB 414a.
