Thesis Defence Tabea Broecker
Congratulations to Tabea Broecker, who defended her doctoral thesis with the titel "High-resolution integral modelling approach for flow and transport in groundwater – surface water interaction space" on Tuesday, 8 December 2020.
First International Conference on Urban Water Interfaces (UWI)
The First International Conference on Urban Water Interfaces was successfully held in a digital format between 22 and 24 September 2020. About 200 people from 5 continents registered for the conference, which comprised 5 stimulating keynote lectures, about 50 oral presentations in two parallel sessions, virtual networking sessions, an open forum discussion and virtual excursions to selected laboratories and field sites.
Five awards were presented for best oral presentations, one in each of the four conference topics and one for the most innovative digital format.

Based on the very positive feedback by participants, the conference can be considered a success.

Thesis Defence Marcella Nega
Congratulations to Marcella Nega, who successfully defended her doctoral thesis with the titel "Effects of micropollutants on the Panke River microbial communities and degradation of selected pharmaceuticals by manganese-oxidizing bacteria" on Friday, 10 July 2020.
Common Topics Meeting
On 18 March 2020 an online common topics meeting was held. For this meeting, which was previsouly planned as a day event, presentations were prepared by all four common topics groups. The presentations included information about: projects of doctoral students, kollegiates and others involved; measurements; models used; collaborations within and beyond the common topics groups and suggestions for improvement of collaboration.
