Former UWI kollegiate Dr. Ilhan Özgen-Xia
from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California, United States, accepted a Junior Professorship (with Tenure Track) on Urban Environmental Interfaces at TU Braunschweig and started in November 2021
UWI Core Course 'Ecology of urban freshwaters'
This mandatory course took place from September 27 to October 1, 2021 including several visits of lab and field sites. It was highly valued by the participants.
UWI Summer School 2021
On 21 and 22 September 2021, the annual UWI Summer School was carried out via Zoom.
Masterplan Wasser
On 12 August 2021, there was an online meeting of UWI representatives with the Senate of Berlin to discuss about the Masterplan Wasser.
UWI presented a short overview on its activities, seven doctoral thesis projects and outcomes as well as some general modelling recommendations. After vivid discussions among the about 50 participants, it was decided to continue this knowelge exchange.

Common Topics Meeting
On 28 April 2021 an online common topics meeting was held. For this meeting, presentations were prepared by all four common topics groups. The presentations included information about: projects of doctoral students, kollegiates and others involved; measurements; models used; collaborations within and beyond the common topics groups and suggestions for improvement of collaboration.
