Seminars and workshops
Every year an annual summer school is organised. During the first summer school, after about three months, students present their research exposés to the group of doctoral researchers and their supervisors, which includes a literature review of the research topic, a draft of the research structure, a time line including a study plan of the courses to be attended and suggestions for conference and paper contributions and the internship. The research exposé has to be approved by the Board of Supervisors (BoS). In the following years progress in research has to be presented at these workshops and the UWI community discusses each doctoral researchers progress and determines improvements and/or changes. Complementary to the presentations by the UWI doctoral researchers, national and international experts are invited to give lectures on interdisciplinary topics, and on international and/or practical experience. The half-yearly BoS-meetings are held as part of the summer school. Additionally interim meetings and kollegiate days are organised.
UWI guest lectures are regulary organised during the year, of which 4 are mandatory for the UWI doctoral researchers. See our News and events page for the latest information on UWI guest lectures.
