The doctoral students from the 1st UWI cohort elaborated seven common topics based on their experience and in discussion with their supervisors. These common topic were:

• Urban soil – atmosphere interface
• Interfaces in urban surface waters
• Surface water – groundwater interactions
• Interfaces in sewer systems
• Micropollutants
• Biogeochemical processes
• Modelling
